Qi Stagnation and Organ Imbalances

Qi is energy and the vital force that circulates throughout the body.

Qi stagnation is a condition that creates an imbalance in the body’s natural energy rhythms. It disrupts the natural movement of energy from the organs to the rest of the body. This congests the meridians and affects the normal transmission of the body’s impulses. As a result, the body’s function and natural healing processes are compromised.

Organ imbalance and Qi stagnation are caused whenever a person is unable to adapt to a physical, emotional, or chemical stress. In the early stages, Qi stagnation also affects muscles, ligaments, and organs. Although extreme pain has been observed in some cases, it is more often experienced as discomfort. Since symptoms are the last thing to appear in any disease process, it is not uncommon for stagnation and imbalance to go completely unnoticed.

If the condition goes untreated, the body will attempt to support the affected area. This can lead to deformities, muscle rigidity, and degeneration.

The longer the condition goes untreated, the less chance there is for recovery. What began as a minor problem or discomfort may lead to irreversible damage.

The purpose of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine is to return the flow of Qi back to normal so the organs can return to their natural, optimal condition. This will in turn encourage Qi to flow smoothly and restore function to the affected areas. If detected early, Qi stagnation and organ imbalances may respond well to Chinese Medicine.
